I’m a Treasurer for a small township in the Midwest. Every year I hear the same thing about property taxes, and yet every time their is a ballot proposal to pay for a new senior center, vet hall, school improvements, walking trail, police wage increases, etc….the majority of the people vote yes….then they ask me why their taxes keep going up…..the solution is to vote NO…..

If you stop paying your taxes the fire department, police, and public school should be able to refuse services. There's a reason you have to pay taxes because those services are baseline to being a citizen in this country. There used to be a time when those services were opt-in and many people suffered. Imagine your house is burning down and the fire department makes sure the fire doesnt spread from your home but doesnt put it out.

Paying your taxes is your civic duty. Thats how we have made this work for everyone and not just those who were smart enough to get rich off the other people.

Government is not supposed to be a product, it’s supposed to be a gemeinsam construct of administration of the public. Even if the person we don’t want is elected we still having as society the obligation to work together, being opposed doesn’t mean to be the enemy.
